Boss of the SOC (BOTS): Cybersecurity Competition
CNM's School of Business, Hospitality, and Technology is excited to host the Boss of the Security Operation Centers (SOC) cutting-edge cybersecurity competition and workshop on November 21 from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Main Campus in Smith Brasher Hall. Sponsored by Splunk, this team-based cybersecurity competition is designed to replicate real-world challenges faced by today’s Security Operations Centers (SOCs). All CNM students, faculty, staff, and community members interested in cybersecurity and threat detection are invited. Participants will work in teams to investigate, detect, and respond to simulated security incidents using Splunk’s leading security tools. This dynamic competition fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, all while providing a unique learning opportunity.
Key Objectives:
- Gain hands-on experience with Splunk’s Security Suite and other cybersecurity tools.
- Learn to investigate and respond to cybersecurity incidents in a real-time, high-pressure environment.
- Develop advanced threat detection, investigation, and response techniques that are immediately applicable in SOCs.
- Collaborate in teams to solve complex security challenges.
Agenda (all times Mountain):
- 11 a.m. - Noon: Check-in and lunch
- Noon - 4 p.m.: Competition
- 4 p.m.: Wrap up and prizes
